I'm a pretty big fan of a friendly neighborhood coffee joint called, ONYX Coffee Lab. ONYX offers some of the best coffee I have ever experienced in my life. I have experienced an ridiculous amount of coffee for nearly just entering the 20-somethings-world ( I am probably on the high road to an early onset of hypertension, HA!) Whenever I visit a new place it is always of great importance that the best coffee shop in the city is hunted down. I like to sit with a cup in hand and sip it confidently as if I, too, am also a local. It's fun to gain that new perspective in a place; like you are playing dress-up with life and trying on a different one. Well, at least for an hour and a half, or something like that. So,I guess you could say I find it pretty endearing that after all the coffee I've over-indulged in I am still the most impressed by the growing coffee scene in friendly Fayetteville, AR. Sometimes the gems are found in the most hidden and quiet of places. Plus, ONYX is renowned for their awesome latte art, ethical trading standards, and quality bean sourcing. Swoon.

There are many definitions for Illumination; a light that shines in a room, a spiritual enlightenment, or the act of finding clarity. But, how does this word and concept apply to our individual life adventures? Personally, creativity has always been a way for me to find illumination in life. Whenever the ordinary routine of life begins to make me feel incredibly square and spiritless, I know that if I start on some sort of creative project I will start to feel ignited and moved again. In the phases of life where a lot of joy is being experienced, I feel as though my energy will echo through all of my favorite creative outlets. Likewise, during times of serious self doubt and frustration, I feel a strong change in my attitude when I start to concentrate my energies on the hope that comes from doing what I love to do; dreaming, product researching, and designing.. Although the day dream world has always seemed to suit my spirit well, everybody is illuminated by different things that are wonderful and unique.
I know a hand full of people who are illuminated by travel and the expansion of their world. The hum of an airplane cabin could sing them to sleep knowing that they will be surrounded by something new when they touch the ground. I also know folks who are brightened by filling their days with conversation; always listening to the stories of new and old acquaintances. They keep their ears wide open and soak up the events happening around them like a sponge. I know through encounters that there are content souls out there that are illuminated by simply making their bed in the morning and breathing the air outside. I have to admit, I am crazy envious of that person's simple and content outlook in life and I could indeed learn a lesson or two from them about patience. A great friend of mine, quirky as it is, seems to be renewed and inspired by the constant rearrangement of her bedroom furniture, "I just feel like things are different and exciting when I move things around, like anything is possible and I can now conquer the world" she claims. Of course, I can't forget the bookworms, the mathematicians, the athletes, or the humanitarians who are expanded by the treasures that they have also found in living. Exhilaration for life is ,indeed, not something that is only for an exclusive brand of inspiration prone humans, it is something that is for every soul who was given the gift life. Sometimes it is difficult to find the light, but there is always a switch around the corner.
So, whoever you are, wherever you are in life, and however lost or found you find yourself to be today; what is it that illuminates your soul and makes you feel in love with your life?
